Hot Fries: Cool Idea

There are few things we Americans love more than a juicy burger with french fries. But admit it, when you go through the drive-through, what is the first thing you grab when you reach into that paper bag? The burger? Napkins? A straw? No, you grab a hot french fry and slurp it down like a baby bird eating it's first worm.
So one industrious couple has decided to take the burger out of the equation and focus on french fries, the part of the meal you really want. Shawn and Shulpa Patel hired me recently to photograph their new french fry concept called Hot Fries. They've taken good old french fries and added a twist. Each order of fries is tossed in your choice of seasonings--sour cream and onion, barbeque, parmesan garlic, jalapeno cheddar and ranch. Oh, and my favorite, cheddar. You may remember my love letter to Kraft Mac n Cheese from last December, and when you try these fries you will understand why they are my favorite. They have captured the taste of The Blue Box flawlessly.
The other fun part of Hot Fries is that you can choose between regular, sweet potato, curly, chips, and sweet potato puffs. If you still need more choices you can order onion strings and Irish Nachos as well.  Let's just say you've never known how many ways you can love a french fry until you've tried them all. Head over to Main Place Mall in Santa Ana, Ca. to see for yourself.
And in case you're wondering, yes, I ate a whole pile of the cheddar fries after the shoot.
