When I got my Droid phone at the beginning of 2010 I found myself taking a lot more photos. Not the hurry-up-and-shoot-before-the-soufflé-falls kind of photos, but the pull-over-the-car-and-shoot-out-the-window kind of photos. Okay, I admit, there were a lot of "cute cat" photos mixed in there too. But I would often pull out my phone to just snap a photo of a moment, a place, a feeling, something to remember it later.
I discovered how much fun it is to take those quick impressions without putting too much thought into it. Don't worry about the soufflé falling, the ice melting or the light changing, just shoot. Capture the moment and move on. I practice this philosophy particularly on vacation when I don't want to get myself and everyone around me wrapped up in a photo shoot. Still, there was a lot of great stuff on my phone and I thought you'd like to see a little year-in-review from the perspective of my phone. Enjoy, and don't worry, I left out the "cute cat" photos.

How dare you leave out the cute cat photos! Your beautifully-captured, stunningly-shot landscapes and portraits are NOTHING without some Buttercup and Scarpetta faces mixed in. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with Casey, cute cats in! Whatever the format, your perspective on things is always wonderful. Fun to see the year unfold for you, thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou know Sarah, this is prob a naughty thing to say, but I LOVE these pics, perhaps more than your usuals, maybe. They capture so much movement, temporary light. Ephemeral moments, just like you say. A lesson to us all in avoiding set up! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm finally getting around to catching up on blog posts and I'm so happy I got to yours! These shots are just wonderful. The shots have a kind of vintage look, but with great clarity. I am going to start appreciating my camera shots more now. Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! Can we get together so can show me how to take some that will look like these? :P
ReplyDeleteOh, and it looks like you guys sail? We plan to take a few day trips and weekend trips this year to Catalina. Let's coordinate, so you guys can come, too!
